📝 Student Instruction: Past Simple Tense

1. When do we use Past Simple?
   • To talk about finished actions in the past.
   • Example: I visited my grandmother yesterday.
2. Form
   • Affirmative (+): Subject + past verb
     • I played football.
   • Negative (–): Subject + did not (didn’t) + base verb
     • I didn’t play football.
   • Question (?): Did + subject + base verb
     • Did you play football?
3. Regular verbs → add -ed
   • play → played
   • watch → watched
   • clean → cleaned
4. Irregular verbs → change form
   • go → went
   • eat → ate
   • have → had
5. Time words for Past Simple
   • yesterday
   • last week/month/year
   • two days ago
   • in 2010
