Al invitar a los estudiantes a formar parte de tus grupos se les brinda un código, (Creo que ese es el código al que te refieres). Más información en el siguiente tutorial:

Una vez que tienes el grupo con estudiantes, puedes asignar tareas, es decir, asignar un cuaderno al grupo, te dejo más información en este tutorial:
