In this activity, I present a short audio recording where I describe a house using the structure There is / There are. Students listen carefully to my description and try to capture as many details as possible. After listening, they write the sentences they understood or remembered from the audio. This activity focuses mainly on listening comprehension and reinforces the recognition of key vocabulary related to objects and spaces. It also helps students develop their writing skills by encouraging them to reconstruct the information in complete sentences. The activity is useful for practicing the affirmative form of There is / There are in a meaningful context. In addition, it trains students to connect what they hear with written production, which strengthens both accuracy and retention. Overall, this activity supports basic description skills and builds confidence in understanding spoken English.
