Student Instructions: Grammar Points – Present Simple

  1. Form (Structure)

    • Affirmative:

      • He/She/It + verb + s/esShe studies English.

    • Negative:

      • He/She/It + does not (doesn’t) + base verb → He doesn’t like coffee.

    • Question:

      • Do + I/you/we/they + base verb? → Do you go to school every day?

      • Does + he/she/it + base verb? → Does she live near here?

  2. Use

    • Use the Present Simple to talk about:

      • Daily routines: I wake up at 6 a.m.

      • Habits: I usually study at night.

      • Facts: The sun rises in the east.

  3. Time Expressions (Common Signals)

    • every day, usually, always, often, sometimes, never, in the morning, at night, etc.

  4. Important Rules

    • Remember -s / -es with he / she / it: works, studies, goes

    • After do/does, use the base form of the verb:

      • Does she go to school? (NOT goes)

  5. Practice Instructions

    • Fill in the blanks with the correct form of the verb.

    • Change sentences into negative and question forms.

    • Write 5–7 sentences about your daily routine using the Present Simple.

    • Ask your partner about their daily activities and write 3 sentences about them.

If you want, I can simplify this for A2 students or rewrite it in Vietnamese for handouts.
