Author's Instructions

This scaffold supports learners who can produce language with moderate support. Students complete the guided structure to create their own Christmas stanza, following the 8-syllable pattern (2-2-4) and 5-syllable final lines.

  1. Below, complete the line using the word bank.
    Follow the pattern:
  • 2 syllables → Sentence starter
  • 2 syllables → Verb phrase
  • 4 syllables → Christmas noun phrase

(8 syllables pattern)

  • 5 syllables → Final lines

Choose one option from each column to create a grammatically correct line. Not all combinations will be correct. Read the sentence and check that it makes sense before writing it in your stanza.

  1. Repeat the phrase two more times.

  1. Bellow, complete the 5 syllable line ending using the word bank.

Follow the pattern:

  • 2 syllables __ Sentence starter
  • 3 syllables __ Sentence endings

Choose one option from each column to create a grammatically correct line. Not all combinations will be correct. Read the sentence and check that it makes sense before writing it in your stanza.

  1. Now sing the chorus.
