  • Identify the two types of actions in each sentence:

    • Long action (what was already happening → Past Continuous)

    • Short action (what happened suddenly → Past Simple)

  • Fill in the blanks with “when” or “while” correctly.

    • Use “while” for the long action in progress.

    • Use “when” for the short, sudden action that interrupts.

  • Check your answers: Does each sentence show clearly what was happening before and what happened suddenly?
