By the end of this activity, students will be able to identify the stressed part of common compound nouns and distinguish their meanings through listening and visual recognition.

 

Compound nouns combine words to name a person, place, object, or idea. In many English compound nouns, the first part receives the strongest stress.
 

Capital letters show where the strongest stress falls.
