You need to explain that sometimes the verb to be is for things that are part of us and make us who and what we are. In Spanish the verb tener is sometimes used and the way to explain is that with tener you can give it t someone; I wish I could give away some of my age/years but that's not going to happen;).
With the verb Llegar in Spanish it can be again a little confusing 'Llego tarde' in the actually making me physically be late for something and it is now my fault and part of me.
