Instructions – Writing Your Story
In this worksheet, you will practise writing a short past-tense story about something surprising or funny that happened to you.
Follow the steps:
1) Read the example story on the worksheet.
2) Complete the gaps using the correct past-tense verbs.
3) Look at the sentence starters (At first…, Then…, Suddenly…, In the end…) and use them to help you write your own story.
4) Write 6–8 sentences about a real or imaginary event.
5) Check your writing for:
a) past-tense verbs (went, saw, ate, felt…)
b) clear order of events
c) simple connectors (at first, then, suddenly, finally)
6) Share your story with a partner or your teacher.
