Actually, I don't understand why students' email addresses should be entered - students don't receive emails asking to confirm their account or notifying them about assigned homework. What's the aim of keeping their email address in their account? Who knows?

Maritta,
If you delete your student's email address, s/he most probably won't get any notification when worksheets are assigned.
@Ruta
If students don't confirm their account, they won't get any notifications. That's why there are 2 envelopes next to their names: Green and Red.

@TeacherARG, Green??? I've never seen a green envelope. I've only seen red or yellow ones. Since I found them useless, I deleted all email addresses from my students' accounts. Now, all envelopes are red, except for one, which is yellow. Not long ago, I created a test student account using one of my email addresses (by going to liveworksheets.com > Sign up > Create a new account > Student). However, I did NOT receive a confirmation email in my Test Student's inbox (I checked everywhere, including Spam). Also, using my teacher's account, I assigned some homework, but Test Student did NOT receive any email notifications. That's why I asked what the aim of entering an email address was. I'm a bit confused. Could you please explain what I'm doing wrong or what else I should do to ensure that my Test Student (and afterwards all the others) receives those opted-in notifications?

As you can see in the image below, envelopes turn green. This happens when you create an account , a notification is automatically sent and the student confirms it is correct.
Unless there's an email address linked to accounts, notifications cannot be delivered. Just add an email to your Test Student.

@Teacher ARG, Thank you for the screenshot and for trying to help. Indeed, you have red and green envelopes!

@TeacherARG, The problem is that the email address for my Test Student WAS entered. It is still entered. I've checked its correctness 3 times letter by letter. However, there was NO email sent to that address. If there's no email, how is it possible to confirm it??

Have you tried editing and changing the Test Student email?
In reply to Have you tried editing and… by TeacherARG
Yes, I've tried those tricks with editing-saving/deleting/entering and saving again... They just don't work. No confirmation e-mail. I don't think there should be any limitations on what kind of a valid e-mail address I use. Today I asked some students to make accounts. I got strange results, e.g., registration with Gmail worked for one student but didn't for another... Anyway, thank you for your support.

Truth be told, notifications have not worked almost since the migration so, unfortunately, I'm not surpised.
I do remember that when I created my students accounts, I didn't even wait for the notifications. I used all their info, logged in and "confirmed" the account. That's when evelopes turned green. I'll create a new user tomorrow and see how things work (or don't) now.

I can only add that my real student who yesterday made an account and got an email from LiveWorksheets, and I also saw how she clicked on the link to confirm her account... Her envelope on my All Students page is still not green but yellow.

OK, it seems that someone from the LW Team has looked at this thread and the problem, at least with students who have been registered since today, is resolved. I made another Test Student account successfully and 2 of my students at school made their accounts smoothly today. All 3 accounts have been confirmed and the students received notifications by e-mail about the homework. And these 3 accounts have GREEN envelopes!:)
Now it would be nice to know if other accounts are going to be fixed or if we have to reregister Yellow accounts one by one.
We have noticed that in some scenarios students don’t activate their accounts and stay blocked thus unable to login. We are working on better messaging and slightly changing the registration flow to mitigate this issue. I expect to deploy this end of next week. Also, we are showing blocked students on the All Students list now, so teachers know what email are used (since last Wednesday).
