How do I add students with email? (Email process explained!)

Instead of inviting students to your class with a group or class code, you can add them manually with email.

 

  1. When logged into your Teacher account, select Dashboard tab along the top menu.
  2. Next select My Students tab.
  3. Select All Students tab.
  4. Click Create a New Student Account button.
  5. Fill out the information in the form including adding the student's email address
  6. Finish by clicking the button Create New Account.  Please see below process in detail to understand next steps for students and how to approve

 

Please note that not all fields are required.  Required fields are indicated with a red asterisk *. 

 

 

 

 

Email Process In Detail

 

Scenario:  When a student creates an account via register form

 

  • Student creates an account via the registration form
  • After successfully completing the form, we show a notification to the student that the email is not confirmed and don’t require clicking the link to unblock the student user as the student will stay always active
  • We will email one reset link that logs the user (For these email confirmations, the link does not expire)
  • After student accepts the email and the account has been confirmed, the account will be set to active and the notification will disappear.  This will change the email icon status to green.  We will also check that the student status is Active, and if the student is set to blocked status, we will unblock the student.  

**Please note that the student account is ALWAYS active during this process and has FULL ACCESS to all features of the system.  

 

 

Scenario:  Teacher creates Student account via Dashboard form

 

  • Teacher creates an account via the All Students tab 
  • After successfully completing the form, we show a soft notification to the teacher that the email is not confirmed, and don’t require clicking the link to unblock the student user as the student will stay always active
  • The system emails one reset link to the student that logs the user (For these email confirmations, the link does not expire)
  • After student accepts the email and the account has been confirmed, the account will be set to active and the notification will disappear.  This will change the email icon status for that student to green.  We will also check that the student status is Active, and if the student is set to blocked status, we will unblock the student.

Scenario:  Teacher adds email to existing student account

 

  • Teacher adds email to existing student account by editing the student account, adding the email address, and updating the account.
  • After successfully updating the student account, we show a soft notification to the teacher that the email is not confirmed, and don’t require clicking the link to unblock the student user as the student will stay always active
  • The system emails one reset link to the student that logs the user  (For these email confirmations, the link does not expire)
  • After student accepts the email and the account has been confirmed, the account will be set to active and the notification will disappear.  This will change the email icon status for that student to green.  We will also check that the student status is Active, and if the student is set to blocked status, we will unblock the student.

  • Teacher creates an account via the registration form.  This teacher user account is blocked until teacher confirm email.
  • The system emails one reset link to the teacher that logs the user (For these email confirmations, the link does not expire)
  • After teacher accepts the email and the account has been confirmed, the account will be set to active.
