Part 4. Write Your Own Letter

Situation: You got a letter from your friend Sam. Read it and write a reply (90–110 words).

Hi Anna,
Thanks for your last letter! It was great to hear about your school trip.
Last week I went to a concert with my family. It was so cool! The band played all my favourite songs.
What did you do last weekend? Did you go anywhere special? Tell me everything!
Write back soon,
Sam

Your reply plan:

  1. Opening: Thank Sam for the letter and react to his news.
  2. Main body: Answer both questions (what you did last weekend, if you went somewhere special). Use 3–4 sentences in Past Simple.
  3. Extra: Ask Sam 1–2 questions (about the concert or his plans).
  4. Closing: Finish with a closing phrase and sign your name.

Space for your answer:

Dear Sam,
