Energy is the ability to be active or do work. There are different types of energy. Heat energy, or thermal energy, is one type. Heat causes molecules- to move around. A molecule is a very small bit of something. Molecules are too small to see. Hot molecules move very fast. They spread out. Cooler They stay closer together. Hot molecules move all over the place. Their energy can move, or transfer, to other objects. Think about a hot burner on a stove. The flame heats the pot. The heat from the pot heats whatever is in it.
1. What is another term for heat energy?
a. solar energy b. thermal energy
c. friction energy d. molecule energy
2. What type of object has molecules moving quickly?
a. hot b. cold
c. large d. small
3. Why does a pot on a stove burner get hot?
a. The heat transfers. b. The pot create heat.
c. The heat has energy. d. The pots molecules move slowly.
