What are Binomial Pairs? Binomial pairs are expressions made up of two words joined by a conjunction (usually "and"). The order of the words is fixed, meaning you cannot switch them around. Example: We say "black and white," not "white and black."
What is the Continuous Aspect? Continuous verb forms (also called progressive forms) focus on an action in progress, a temporary situation, or the duration of an activity. They are always formed with the verb to be + verb-ing.
-
Present Continuous: Actions happening right now or temporary situations (e.g., It is becoming a movement).
-
Present Perfect Continuous: Actions that started in the past and continue up to the present (e.g., He has been saying that since he was 35).
-
Past Continuous: Actions in progress at a specific moment in the past (e.g., He was working as a salesman).
-
Past Perfect Continuous: Actions in progress up to another point in the past (e.g., He had been intending to leave).
-
Future Continuous: Actions that will be in progress at a specific time in the future (e.g., He won't be moving around).
