Student can't repeat the exercise

For special reasons two students need to repeat an exercise in their workbook. I opened the page, opened the repeat exercise box, wrote a message, set the new due date and they received the email. But when they sign in and go to the page they can write but no "finish"/save or send. What can be done? Any ideas?
