It sounds as if I need to share my worksheet in order to have it in PDF format too.

Yes, that's it. Allowing others to download your worksheet as a .pdf file is just another level of sharing. If you want to share your worksheet as a .pdf file, there is no point in making it private, is there? Or did you have another use in mind for that .pdf file?
